Snapshots from the tumbling of time: 2000;2006;2009;2011

6 ¾

A tiny thumb creeps in
A pink blanket held tight
A baby still
---through squeezed eyes
Daylight—
            Mommy remember to
                        Tie your shoe
                        Wash your hands
                        Pick me up
                        Drive carefully
                        Take care of me
As if I would forget

Matching socks to a
Bright pink dress
Face glitter
Hair just so
No—don’t take a picture!
6 ¾ today—“I don’t
look my best.”
Learning
Fractions
            Multiplication
            Money
            Time
Why does time go so fast, mommy?

Sunday night tears-- for soon I will be 7.

Little Princess Turns 16!!!

In a stunning somersault through the warp of time, Little Princess danced, kicked, plied and sprinted directly from the age of 6 to the age of 16 in a matter of minutes, leaving Big Mama and Thomie Gee standing, mouths agape and eyes popping out, at the amazing sight.

“It was like this incredible, gorgeous, sparkly blue streak going by” said Big Mama. “Little Princess flew by fast, singing and babbling and laughing and growing more and more beautiful—and she did it all in rings and things and fine array”

It seems she has paused for a moment to bask in the glory and sweetness of sweet sixteen. There was another brief pause for a Bat Mitzvah, but that was about 5 minutes ago.

“It’s a wild ride” laughed Big Mama “and I love it!”

My Little Family
My family makes me laugh:
I laugh diamond tears that run from my eyes and make me the richest woman in the world
My family makes me mad:
I stamp my feet like Rumplestiltskin and fall through the earth and travel through black holes and I am scared.
My family makes me worry:
Because I am so good at it
My family teaches me
to be flexible, to listen, to let go, to be thankful
My family stretches my heart and sometimes I think it will break
            when we are far apart.
But it stretches throughout the universe
            And it will never break…
My family taught me
that it is good to be alive and ok to be human.
